It has been some time since I’ve really been able to just sit down and just like update in general. There have been many life changes for me. Been working, changed jobs since the real last time I was here, and moved as well. I’m in a somewhat fortunate situation where I’m a little close to family so I can visit somewhat often. And I’ve moved into a rather nice location wherein I can a little more freely enjoy my preferred form of listening more so than headphones, loudspeakers.
As such, I generally have had less situations focusing and working on the IEM/headphone aspect of my music enjoyment, and have mostly been focusing on the loudspeaker aspect.
Although it didn’t really manage to make it to current status updates, I’ve really made a home theater in the living room, and had these nice Canton Vento 100 in possession at one point. This didn’t make it to any reviews and I’ve now sold it for an unpassable opportunity to own Canton’s newest Reference series and specifically the 7 model. Got to recoup that money somewhere, right? This is part of the Home theater set up that I will be in introducing in general, which is now one of the main focus of my listening. I will be in a more living room listening situation for a number of critical listening reviews, instead of the nearfield desk set up that I used to be rocking for the main situation.
The desk set up remains, not to worry, because I also still want a nice stereo system for that for my own use cases, such as gaming and if products that pass through may be used in a desk set up as well, I will also use this set up for testing as well. I will also be updating this set up specs, as a few things have changed about it, although there is only a few things that haven’t changed, such as the PC, the Emerald Physics 100.2SE amplifier that was quite the staple in the main system. This has actually stayed in the main system (which was swapped to living room listening situations), but has since been replaced and has returned to the desk set up, coming full circle in a certain way.
The Emerald Physics 100.2SE is still a very capable amplifier, but as you might see, there are plenty of more capable components I’ve managed to snag within the hiatus that I haven’t introduced in the main Stereo/Home Theater set up I will introduce in the next few days here. I will also mention that I’ve not struck the lottery, that’s not why or how I snagged all of those products up. They were in progress for the last 2 years, and have resulted in the system it is today. I’ve just been saving up and pretty much getting them used off marketplaces for good deals, and has lead me to regularly look and see if there are any good deals I can snag to upgrade. A $2000 amplifier selling on market place for $1000 or less is still an amplifier that is capable of producing a roughly $2000 performance, versus getting a new one at the full MSRP of $1000. And that is why unless the opportunity is too good, or there is a real desire for a certain new product for specialty applications, I will always try to get used products.
Well, that’s just a small piece of the pie for what is in store. I’m generally looking to be slowly getting back into writing and updating the website as well, so stay tuned for that! For now, stay safe, stay passionate.
